Tips Speed Up Any Broadband Connection - Are You Losing Out on Fast Internet?

Even though many people have broadband now, it's amazing to see how many connections are running slower than what they should be. This is a problem that's widespread throughout the World, and is actually caused by Windows more than anything. The good news is that if you have a slow broadband connection currently, and want to speed it up, there are certain things you can do right now to make it run faster.
1) Only Have One Program Open At Once - Many people tend to have a lot of programs open at once on their computers... but this is often the reason why many broadband connections run slowly - as programs such as Skype, AIM and Outlook are constantly checking the Internet for updates & data. This slows down your Internet as it basically has to "split" your connection with a series of other programs. To fix this problem, you should make sure that you only have a limited number of programs open at once - which should ensure your PC is fully focused on the program you want to connect to the Internet
2) Test Your Connection Speed - It is often the case that a lot of Internet companies have problems or somehow do not send the right speed of service to your premises. This is a problem that can be quite common with some providers, and in order to test your connection speed, you should just type "Broadband Speed Test" into Google and then click the first result. Take a look at the speed that appears, and if it's slower than what you're billed for, then you should talk with your Internet company about the issue.
3) Password Protect Your Wireless Network - If you are running a wireless network, then it's essential that you password protect it to make sure that it's not being accessed by strangers. To do this, you need to log into your "router" and then look to make a "WEP" encryption key. If you currently have an unsecured network, you could have your whole neighborhood leaching your Internet connection and making it run slow.
4) Scan Your Computer For Viruses - Viruses are a big problem for any computer, and they are also a big cause of slow Internet speeds. Viruses are basically small applications which run without your permission. Many of them are designed to "harvest" your personal details and then send them to a hacker via the Internet. You should use an antivirus program to scan through your computer and remove any viruses that are in there, which could boost your Internet speed dramatically, depending on how many viruses your computer has.
5) Clean Out The Registry - This is a big tip that hardly anyone knows about. The 'registry' is a database which stores information and settings for your computer, allowing Windows to keep such information as your desktop wallpaper, latest emails and even your stored passwords. The registry also keeps many Internet settings as well, and is used constantly by your computer whenever you are browsing the Internet or are downloading a file. Unfortunately, the registry database is constantly being damaged and corrupted, making Windows unable to read the files it needs to process websites and downloads.
This problem can slow down your connection speed dramatically, and in order to make it faster, you should clean out the registry database by using a "registry cleaner". These are tools which scan through the settings of the registry and fix any of the damaged or corrupt settings that are inside it. We've used this tip on many computers and found an instant and noticeable increase in the speed of the Internet connection. You can get these tools from many websites, and are very easy to use
You can speed up your broadband by first controlling what programs you use, checking your Internet speed and then cleaning out the registry with a 'registry cleaner'. You can Click Here to make your broadband connection run extremely fast.
